However we did get to make a Saturday drive to Mountain Home and meet up with our webdesigner, Mikel. He got our old 3 horse trailer and we got his little goat trailer. It worked out well for both of us. It was really foggy driving up there. We had a short visit with Mikel, and got to meet his sister. They both seem like really nice kids. He has been doing an excellent job on our website, it looks great and we have gotten tons of compliments. Mikel keeps all the updates current and gets them done right away. We highly recommend him if you need a website. We will be posting pictures soon on the website of both our trailers.

L

The Horse

We went up and looked at the Fjord horses and wouldn't you know it, we were made an offer we are sure we are going to refuse. There is a train of thinking on our part for this. We have been out of the show loop for about 12 years now. Yes we hit the State Fair, but that has been about it. This year we are hoping to hit more shows and really get our herd back out there. By offering good kids at great prices we are not only promoting our herd, but it also brings up our herd name for others when they ask "where did you get your buck". I will admit it's mostly for promo, but they are also extremely well bred bucklings. We don't keep a buck out of every doe and the doe had better be darned nice to keep a buck out of her. One of the things we ask ourselves when evaluating a kid is "do we want 100 of the dam?" If the answer is yes, then we are comfortable with that decision. Of course there is no such thing as a perfect goat, but we are always striving to get there.

Tomorrow brings a new adventure, we are going and looking at a Fjord for Henry. It is something he has wanted to get into for quite some time, and with the selling of his boer goats, he can now have one.

Until next time......................................................................

Trailer day

Today Henry is on his way to get our "New" to us horse trailer. We lucked out and bought our son's old gooseneck. I am very excited to have such a nice trailer. It is older but in real nice shape. No more sleeping on the floor of the old trailer at shows!! With a walk in tack/dressing room it is absolutely perfect for us. Now it's just to get it up the hill with all the snow we have.
We have lots of sunshine today so hopefully it will melt the drifts down a little bit.
By the time the other does start kidding we will be about 20 degrees warmer so that will make doing chores a bit nicer.

Until next time.....................................

Welcome to Sage Acres

Hi and welcome to the Sage Acres Blog! I was trying to figure out a way to keep everyone up to date with what we have going on around the farm. It has been an experience this year with a move to bare property. We finally caved and sold the Boer goats (Thanks Alesia) because of our lack of facilities. We have had 60mph wind gusts, sub zero days and nights and just a plain old fashioned winter. The dairy does are hanging in there, and really doing pretty good. We have old fertilizer tanks that keep them out of the wind and snow. Of course there are 5 ft drifts everywhere, but all in all we just keep on going. This past week we had 2 does kid, Jerri and Amber, kids are in the horse trailer where it is warmer.

Stay tuned......................................................

Lauri
